Which math calculator to use

The percentage calculator answers the three everyday percent questions: what X% of Y is, what percent X is of Y, and the percent change from one value to another. If a percent increase or decrease is all you need, the percentage change calculator does only that. Fractions and whole numbers have their own tools: the fraction calculator adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides fractions, the ratio calculator simplifies, solves and scales ratios, and the GCD and LCM calculator finds the greatest common divisor and least common multiple.

For geometry and algebra, the area calculator covers five common shapes, the Pythagorean theorem calculator finds a missing side of a right triangle, and the quadratic formula calculator returns real or complex roots with the discriminant and vertex. For data, the mean, median and mode calculator and the standard deviation calculator work from any list of numbers, and the permutation and combination calculator gives exact counts of arrangements and selections.

Converting square meters to square feet is a job for the area converter, not the area calculator, which works out the area of a shape from its dimensions. Each page shows the formula it uses and a worked example you can follow by hand.
